BOLTON BEAR BOTS

We are a small, growing 4-6 person team based in Alexandria, Louisiana at Bolton High School. Our current team has been privileged to be able to experience the FIRST program for the last three years and would like to build upon the foundation our team has laid for future Bolton students. This year our sponsorships (including a hardship grant for $4000), totaled approximately $6,500, and we competed against teams, including groups from all over Louisiana, with budgets over $65,000. On a shoestring budget we were able to finish 8th out of 56 teams, and reached the quarter finals of the competition. We understand that a goal of $65,000 is not realistic, but it would be incredible to increase our numbers this year to help us continually grow our program that lays the foundation for future engineers that will one day find careers in our community.

 

For Bolton to compete in the international FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), our team must raise funds to pay our entry fee into the competition, and any additional funds will be put toward necessary building materials, new tools, and assisting students’ travel fees to attend the actual competitions. Each event we attend costs a minimum of $5,000, and we hope to attend two competitions for the 2017 year. With so much time and money invested into each year’s robot, we would love to have the opportunity to compete more than once, as we learn more with each event. Whether you can offer monetary donations, tools, or advice to our group in the form of mentoring, all donations are greatly appreciated. In the case of money or other items of value, the reward tiers for helping our team are as follows:

• $25-50 – You will receive a Bolton Bear Bots 2016-2017 t-shirt and be listed as a patron on our official Bolton Bear Bots website.

 

• $50-250 – Your company’s logo will be listed on the official Bolton Bear Bots website as a sponsor for the 2016-2017 competition year.

 

• $500 – Your company’s logo will be displayed on the back of our t-shirt for the 2016-2017 competition year.

 

• $1,000 – Your company’s logo will be displayed on our official robot for the 2016-2017 competition.

 

• $1,500 – Members of our team will personally visit your business with our robot after the 2016-2017 competition season and demonstrate our robot’s capabilities.

 

• $5,000 – Your business will be considered a full team sponsor and be implemented into our team name and to be used any time we use our team name.

 

Deadline: Our registration fees must be paid by mid-November, so we are asking sponsors to donate by November 1st if possible. Expenses will continue to arise during the build season, so money donated at any time is greatly appreciated.

 

We’ve learned in the last two years how the most successful teams are the ones who have created partnerships with local businesses. This is vital to the success of a team like ours. If your company has items to donate, like previously used tools or usable scrap materials we will gladly accept those donations. In addition to donations, if any of your team is interested in what we are doing and could spend an afternoon to show us new building techniques or give input on the design of our robot, that would also be an invaluable resource for our group as we still have so much to learn. Any help that we can get this year from our community will assist us more than you can imagine and like I've said numerous times, anything is greatly appreciated!
